The program team welcomes other agencies or entities that maintain road transportation GIS data for Idaho to join this effort.

and ask these questions:

1.        What data do I need to participate?

a.       You need a vector line GIS data set and metadata record of road transportation features that you will maintain for your jurisdiction.

b.      Currently, the data must be in an ESRI shapefile format (.shp).  The metadata must be FGDC-compliant XML.

c.       Jurisdiction

                                                   i.      What if I have BLM, USFS, or USFWS roads in my jurisdiction?  Am I responsible for those roads also?

1.       No 

2.       How do I get my roads data to INSIDE Idaho?

a.       ZIP the shapefile and place it on the Internet.  The zip file may only contain one shapefile.

b.      Place an XML metadata record for the shapefile on the Internet.

c.       Let us know the URL of the ZIP file and XML file.  Provide a username and password if required.

d.   Complete this form and email it to Bruce Godfrey.

3.       How complete does my roads layer need to be before my jurisdiction may participate?

  1. At minimum your layer must contain the GIS_STEW attribute.  However, you are encourage to include others.

4.       How will my data fit in with neighboring counties/tribes?

a.       Miles Henriksen will set up agreement points for you to match with neighboring jurisdictions
